CHICAGO, IL June 17, 2004 -- Breastfeeding.com member, Amy Lucas, was tragically killed in a car accident on May 3, 2004, leaving behind a husband and five children. Working entirely through their international online community message boards, members of Breastfeeding.com and NursingMom.net, two websites devoted to breastfeeding and other parenting issues, are producing a cookbook from which proceeds will benefit the family. 80% of the profits will be donated to the Lucas Family Trust, managed by the Abundant Love Church in Cahokia, Illinois. The remaining 20% will be donated to La Leche League International, a breastfeeding advocacy group that Mrs. Lucas supported.
“Making More Than Milk: Food for the Whole Family” will feature 500 recipes, parenting tips and advice for nursing mothers, all contributed by message board members. The professionally published, hardcover book costs $12.00 and can be ordered online. All orders must be pre-paid through PayPal, or by money order or personal check. Orders will be taken through June 21, 2004. The cookbooks will be delivered in September.
